United Heartland to Build New Headquarters, Continue Expanding Nationally

01/28/2009

Milwaukee – While many local and national companies are freezing hiring or cutting jobs, national workers compensation insurer United Heartland has plans to grow its work force, continue its national expansion and build a new national headquarters in the Milwaukee suburb of New Berlin.

In March, United Heartland will break ground on a 56,000 square foot office facility near the I-43/Moorland Road Interchange and will move in December 2009. The facility will house up to 300 employees – 200 are currently employed at the company’s New Berlin office, and the company expects to add another 100 positions over the next 15 years. Plans for the building give United Heartland the flexibility to add on when necessary.

“The new facility will accommodate our company’s continued growth and national expansion efforts,” says President Emil Pfenninger. “With this new structure, our organization’s service capabilities will be strengthened, moving us one step closer to our goal of being a top workers compensation company in the country.”

United Heartland is partnering on the project with Irgens, CB Richard Ellis, Kahler Slater Architects and HLA Business Interiors.

United Heartland has a total of 250 employees in New Berlin and regional offices in Rosemont, Ill., Charlotte, N.C., and Kansas City, Mo. It currently operates in 12 core states and will enter two more, Georgia and California, in 2009.
